Carleton Martello Tower
Martello towers were built by the British throughout England and North America. Their design was unique in that they were all round with a flat roof.

The Carleton Martello Tower was built between 1812 and 1814 and was intended to be used as a means of defence against the Americans during the War of 1812. By the time the tower was completed the war was over. The tower was used for different purposes serving as a detention centre during the First World War and and Observation and Fire Command Post during the Second World War.

The Carleton Martello Tower offers a great look at the past and the purposes that it served. When touring the tower you can see how military of this time would live and the conditions they would live in.

This picture taken in 2007 bring to question as to whether the tower is haunted or if this is just the wild imagination of a ten year old boy
